     Welcome to Longmire Learning Center (LLC), an educational childcare facility that encourages children ages 2-5 to become confident and competent individuals with a love of learning and self.  Our goal is to provide high quality child care/preschool and exceptional early instruction that enables all children to develop behaviors and prerequisite skills for personal and academic success.  Please come to visit and participate in the play activities and teacher-led small group instruction that develop excellent language skills.  We emphasize vocabulary development and oral expressive language.  Our experiences in 24 years have convinced us that understanding language and how to communicate is an important “first step” toward reading and educational success.

Our Family...

     We love reading and have a fabulous collection of books shared daily with the children.  We encourage children and parents to read for pleasure and knowledge!  Parents stay in contact for years…reporting that their children continue to love reading, writing, and art as a means to illustrate their important ideas.  Our family stays in contact…so fun!

Our Developmental LLC Program...

     Our successful program components, including the curriculum and staff training, evolved from Dr. Gibson’s teaching experiences in public school and the “learning curve” from opening her first school in Bryan, Texas, The Education Station, serving children ages 2-12 years from 1984-1996.  A second preschool facility, Collier Campus, Inc., was opened in 1987, and Longmire Learning Center, Inc. in College Station, Texas, opened in 1996 and is now operated as Longmire Learning Center.

     The We Can Early Childhood Curriculum, developed by Dr. Gibson, incorporates recent research and best practices.  The curriculum design encourages children to actively participate in learning experiences in an enriched, supportive environment with teacher-led small group instruction for pre-skill training.  Children learn while playing, socializing, cooperating and collaborating!  The daily activities encourage listening and following directions, thinking, making choices, self-regulation, and pre-academic learning practice.

Our Success...

     We are very proud of LLC...our children and families, our staff, and our program’s success!  Our curriculum and classroom management system are published and sold nationally.  Sopris West, a reputable publication company from Colorado, filmed an instructional video on our classroom management system that was completed in Spring 2002.  We are very excited to share what we do with others to build success for our children, families, and other educators.  We even welcome students from local universities each semester to observe our classroom management system and learn from what we do here at LLC.
